Shannon Farmz Animal Rescue Foundation became a 501c3 charitable organization on September 1st of 2019. It is run by two amazing, talented people who have an unquestionable love and undeniable dedication to the welfare of animals. Regardless of age, health, species, breed, or size, Shannon Farmz will do everything in their power to improve the well being of any animal in need.
How do we help animals in need……
We pull animals from animal shelters across the state of Oklahoma. Once removed from animals shelters the rescue will perform diagnostic tests and a mandatory two week monitoring period to get to know the animal. This allows the rescue to be sure the animals will be suitable for a home and what the may require. Some animals are adopted through Shannon Farmz while others are transfered to partner rescues to be adopted through their organizations.
We do not openly take in strays and/or lost animals. We ask that finders go to the local animal shelter where the animal was found/lost . Most animal shelters work closely with local rescues to help strays find good, healthy homes once a specific amount of time has passed. This amount of time served gives the owner time to find their pet and the shelter time to wellness check and vaccinate those in need.
We have the ability to set live traps to capture wild/neglected animals who need immediate care. When we have volunteers and time we can set traps where animals travel regularly and provided nourishment while we slowly earn their trust. Once trapped they are taken to a facility for medical care or a tight holding facility where they can be kept clean and warm while they get used to the comoforts of domestication. These animals will go through our diagnostic tests and a mandatory two week monitoring period to get to know the animal as they allow.
We work with owners on a case by case bases to assist in finding pets new placement or a new home when needed. We cannot always take in pets being surrendered and we always ask that owners needing to surrender pets assist the rescue with monetray needs of their pet for vetting and food needs by paying a surrender fee or by making a monetary donation to the rescue. These pets will go through our diagnostic tests and a mandatory two week monitoring period to get to know the animal.
